Architectural Art
The artist producing unique architectural art has been working as an artist since 1990 specialising in conceptual art using silkscreen printmaking and hand painting directly onto canvas. Processes include drawing on site, photography, graphic manipulation, silkscreen printmaking, and acrylic painting.
After initial drawings and photographs have been produced, the artist spends studio time graphically manipulation imagery and a first composition is produced. Using several silk screens for each painting, the creative process begins. By first painting the sky by hand, and then progressing on to layering imagery onto canvas. After each layer of colour, the artist assesses the artwork and continues to layer again using traces of marks and imagery. At the same time, between silk screen layering, hand acrylic work is made. This way of working is totally unique in terms of process and outcome.
The ultimate aim is to produce contemporary works that reveal architecture as a new discovery.
Often taking an identical architectural scene, and treating each painting in a different way using a variety of similar imagery, colour and marks, each painting differs from the other and results in diverse emotions from the viewer. The construction often generates fascination in the unique construction technique as the observer is able to relate to the alternative interpretation with interest.
