Chris Worden

Born in Essex, 1969.

It was in my teens that my Dad introduced me to photography, but it wasn't until around three or four years ago that I really got interested in taking photos. With a love of live music, a little compact digital accompanied me to gigs where, slowly but surely, the results began to come. Pretty much all of my music photos are taken from within the crowd - no photo passes - just enjoying the music and the challenge of keeping still while everyone around you is jumping around...

Although I'm as happy taking landscapes as I am flowers or buildings, music and motorsport are my main loves. Neither subject matter stands still; there's always something to photograph. My preferred style is to capture the moment rather than wholly set up a picture. Anticipate what's about to happen; be ready; press the shutter at just the right time. Anticipation, but also spontaneity.

Black and white is my format of choice; there's no distraction from colour. With black and white you have to look at the whole picture which means you see more of it and, therefore, get more out of it.

2R Art gave me my first opportunity to exhibit, starting with 'Rock on the Rocks' in 2010.
